[EU] Join European Networks with financial support from the EU-team
Support for membership of European Technology Platforms and networks linked to European partnerships
The support mechanism designed to facilitate your participation in thematic European networks, will be prolonged in 2026. This initiative aims to enhance Ghent University’s engagement with European Partnerships under Horizon Europe, the EU's framework program for research and innovation.
The Role of European Partnerships in Horizon Europe
European Partnerships play a crucial role in achieving the European Commission's political priorities. These partnerships are typically planned, proposed, and led by European Technology Platforms (ETPs) or thematic networks/associations. Being a member of an ETP or thematic network offers several advantages, such as the ability to propose Horizon Europe call topics, influence drafts of new calls for proposals, and access valuable networks and partners for Horizon Europe projects.
The Added Value of Joining European Networks
Membership in these networks provides significant benefits, including:
- Influence: Shape the research agenda by proposing and influencing call topics.
- Networking: Access to a broad network of partners and stakeholders.
- Information: Stay informed about upcoming thematic priorities and potential call texts.
- Opportunities: Increase chances of successful Horizon Europe project applications.
Support Mechanism
To encourage membership in these networks and extend the benefits to the entire university, the following support mechanism is available:
- Co-financing of Membership Fees: The EU team will co-finance 50% of the membership fee for 2026 (invoice with date in 2026), up to a maximum of €1,000 per membership. The remaining portion of the membership fee must be covered by the applicant.
- In-kind Contribution by EU Account Managers: EU account managers can participate in network events and working groups or assist as liaisons contact. Their role will be to ensure efficient information sharing about Horizon Europe, upcoming thematic priorities, potential call texts, and other opportunities with the entire research community at Ghent University.
In return we expect that information received via the network, e.g. draft work programmes, networking opportunities, will be shared with the whole UGent research community via the EU Account Mangers.

The application is open for individual professors who represent a research group or other types of entity such as an IOF consortium , an IDC, a department or faculty.
