CORE GIfMI, het Ghent Institute for Functional and Metabolic Imaging, is een 3T MRI faciliteit op de UZ campus. We bieden open-access 3T MR beeldvormingsonderzoek aan, waarbij we actief inzetten op samenwerking tussen disciplines en industrie. CORE GIfMI is geaffilieerd met de Faculteiten Geneeskunde en Gezondheidswetenschappen, Ingenieurswetenschappen en Architectuur en Psychologie en Pedagogische Wetenschappen. Onze klinische partner is de dienst Medische Beeldvorming, UZ Gent.

In-vivo kwantificatie van fysiologische processen met MRI technieken beschikbaar bij GIfMI

MRI is vanuit anatomische beeldvorming veel verder geëvolueerd naar in vivo kwantificatie van fysiologische processen en is steeds beter in staat om weefselfunctie in-vivo en niet-invasief te onderzoeken. Onze missie is om deze technieken naar de onderzoeker en clinicus te brengen.
We verwelkomen daarom onderzoekers uit alle vakgebieden, met of zonder ervaring in MRI. We geloven in de kracht van interdisciplinaire samenwerking en zijn enthousiast om samen nieuwe ideeën en toepassingen te verkennen.

Een blik op de GIfMI Facility

• Wij bieden toegang tot een research 3T MRI scanner en geavanceerde randapparatuur, waarbij we diverse onderzoeksdisciplines ondersteunen.
  Open voor alle disciplines: beeldvorming en in kaart brengen van fysiologische en fysische processen bij gezonde proefpersonen, patiënten, grote dieren, post-mortem, testobjecten, ... zolang het maar waterprotonen bevat.
  Open access: state-of-the-art Siemens PrismaFit 3T MRI met high-performance gradiënten, spoelen voor alle lichaamsdelen, en de nieuwste acquisitiesoftware voor klinische en onderzoeksdoeleinden. Open toegang tot beeldreconstructie, beeldverwerking, MRI pulssequentie ontwikkeling, radiofrequente puls ontwikkeling, hardware engineering, en MRI gecombineerd met fysiologische metingen.

CORE GIfMI, or Ghent Institute for Functional and Metabolic Imaging, is a 3T MRI facility located at the university hospital campus. We are dedicated to open-access 3T MR imaging research, fostering collaboration across disciplines and industries. CORE GIfMI is affiliated with the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Engineering and Architecture and Psychology and Educational Sciences. Our clinical partner is the department of Medical Imaging, UZ Gent.

In-vivo quantification of physiological processes with MRI techniques available at GIfMI

MRI has evolved far beyond anatomical imaging to in vivo quantification of physiological processes and is increasingly able to probe tissue function, in-vivo and non-invasively. Our mission is to bring these techniques to the researcher and clinician. 

We welcome researchers from all fields, including those with no prior experience in MRI. We believe in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and are excited to explore new ideas and applications together.

A view of the GIfMI Facility

• We offer facility access to dedicated 3T MRI scanner and cutting-edge peripheral devices supporting diverse research disciplines. 
  Open to all disciplines: we can scan and probe for physiological and physical processes in healthy subjects, patients, large animals, post-mortem, test objects, ... as long as it contains water protons.
  Open access: state-of-the art Siemens PrismaFit 3T MRI with high-performance gradients, coils for all body parts, and the latest acquisition software for clinical and research purposes. Open access to image reconstruction, image processing, MRI pulse sequence design, radio-frequency pulse design, hardware engineering, and MRI combined with physiological measurements.

• Our strength and unique position in Belgium lies in providing excellent support – from MRI novice to seasoned MRI sequence programmer.
